Ascendant Venomstones
Similar to how players unlocked Nebulous Voidcore at the Catalyst, players can pick up the Ancient Depths, Ancient Venom quest from Orin Straylight this week. Players will be tasked with collecting 3 items that drop from LFR bosses in the Venomous Abyss or Ancient Foes in the Vaults of Atal'Utek. The quest text doesn't explicitly mention it, but completing Nymrissa Wavecaller on World difficulty across 3 characters is a very efficient way of completing it.
Finishing this quest once across your Warband will unlock Ascendant Venomstone with the weekly reset.
Once the Weekly Reset hits, players who have completed this quest can start to collect Ascendant Venomstone from Heroic or Mythic Venomous Abyss bosses, Mythic+ dungeons at +10 or higher, Tier 11 Bountiful Delves, and Nightmare Prey. In Season 2, upgrading a piece of gear takes 10 of this currency (up from 5 in Season 1) and can be used on any fully upgraded Hero or Myth track item, or max-quality Crafted Gear. Items that are already Myth 9/6 from Coiled Altar and Ula'tek cannot be upgraded further.
