Midnight Season 1 Mythic+ Rewards
With players agreeing that this season may be the easiest Mythic+ season ever, many players who have never tried to jump into keystones before are testing the waters and seeing if they like M+ at all.
Mythic+ can be intimidating for a first-time player to try and jump into - you can't get used to running M+ without getting into groups, and getting into groups at low rating can be difficult and daunting. For many players new to M+, running your own keys is the best way to start, and some basics of how to make a good group can make the process easier and less stressful all around.
What to Look For When Hosting Mythic+ Group
There are a few different aspects to consider when deciding on your party composition for Mythic+. Keep in mind, there's no "wrong" way to run Mythic+, especially when you're learning. Not every group has to be MDI-ready, and no composition is truly required: there's plenty of groups that are successful even if they're missing a lust or certain buffs, so don't feel like this is a must-do checklist.
Battle Resurrection and Bloodlust
A strong Mythic+ group generally has at least one class with Battle Resurrection, and another with Bloodlust/Heroism. The following classes have this utility available to them:
Battle Resurrection - Death Knight, Druid, Paladin, and Warlock
Bloodlust/Heroism - Evoker, Hunter, Mage, and Shaman
There are consumable items that provide Battle Resurrection and Bloodlust/Heroism for classes that do not have access to this utility. For Battle Resurrection, players can use a Emergency Soul Link, but have to be in melee range of their target.
For Bloodlust/Heroism, players can use Void-Touched Drums, but it provides a 15% Haste buff instead of the usual 30%. Overall, these items still provide useful effects, but are not as immediately strong as the classes that have them as part of their kit.
Minimum Item Level Requirements
Besides class utility, another strong factor when considering applicants is their item level. The item level requirement depends on the Keystone level, with a general recommendation for players running +10 dungeons to have an item level around 260 - 270.
Before listing the Keystone in Group Finder, players can set a minimum required item level and Mythic+ rating for their group. Any players who do not meet your set requirements are immediately denied, filtering out any undesired players from applying to your group. Typically, this causes the group to fill more slowly, but if you're patient, this is a great way to ensure the applicants applying to your group are strong contestants.
Making use of requirements can help you better target ideal applicants for your group.
What About the Meta?
With every Mythic+ season, there will always be identified specs that outperform most others. These specs form the so-called "meta" for the season, and are often considered above others when joining Mythic+ groups. Is this relevant for Keystones in the +2 to +10 range? No.
Yes, specs like Brewmaster Monk and Restoration Druid have a lot going for them in Midnight Season 1, but they are not the only specializations you must look for when hosting your group.
Many players will always play what is popular, but give that 275 item level Protection Warrior a chance, maybe that 2800 Mythic+ Rating Restoration Shaman as well! Bring the player, not the spec.
How to List Your Own Mythic+ Group
Mythic+ dungeons are done with a party of five: one Tank, one Healer, and three DPS. When hosting Mythic+, applicants are hand-selected by you to join the dungeon group, not randomly assigned. Players can either host or queue into Mythic+ dungeons using the Group Finder tool:
Open the Group Finder UI by pressing your assigned Keybind (Default: "i").
Navigate down to "Premade Groups" and left-click to open the tab.
Select the "Dungeons" option. To host your own Keystone, select the red "Start a Group" button.
Make sure to include/look for all relevant information about the Keystone (Keystone Level, Dungeon, Playstyle, etc.). Once all information for the Keystone has been entered, select the red "List Group" button to allow others to apply to your group.
Select the desired party members to invite to your group.
Once the party reaches 5 members, the Group Finder tool will close.
Make sure to include any relevant information when hosting or applying to groups!
The only thing left is to run your dungeons - and once you get used to Mythic+, a whole new way to play the game opens up for you!
