WoW: Forever Podcast - Ep. 3
Since WoW: Forever was announced, Blizzard has been taking a very aggressive stance towards RMT in the game, even in beta. Originally, they announced the wanted to remind players that RMT is not acceptable and that they would also be taking action against buyers' accounts. In today's WoW: Forever Podcast, Josh Greenfield is reminding players again that they are going to be very aggressive and over 2,100 gold buying accounts have already been banned, with more accounts being banned for selling Gold.
Josh GreenfieldOur stance hasn't really changed on this and we're going to be very aggressive and we are not going to tolerate this and we've already kind of already demonstrated that in the beta. We've already had a lot of great results come from that. We've actually closed over 2,100 gold buying accounts (accounts that have bought gold on the Beta) and we have closed almost 1,600 gold selling or botting accounts on the beta. And this is a thing that we're going to continue to work towards and continue to improve over time.
He also reminds players that there is a new warning coming, as was previously outlined in a statement, which should remind players to "know where your Gold is coming from".

The other piece that I really want to talk about is the rules around trading. We're going to have, in a future update, whenever you trade, a little modal that says, "Are you sure you want to trade with this person?" We're going to add to that and include a message that says, "Be sure you know where your Gold is coming from" when you Trade with people. We don't want to create an aura of fear here. We've gotten very good at determining what is a legitimate trade, like if you're tipping someone for a portal or if you're getting something crafted. We're getting pretty good at determining what that is. We're also getting pretty good at telling when it's like, "Hey, this is bought gold. This is part of an RMT transaction," and we've done a lot of actions already for this. And so it's something we kind of want to warn you about when you accept a trade or accept a mail. That's something that's going to be going in pretty soon.
