Hall of Thanes Dungeon Guide
New Dungeon: Hall of Thanes
Hall of Thanes is a level 13-18 Dungeon located in Ironforge, in the now-open Old Ironforge portion of the city beneath the High Seat. On the beta, there is a lot of new information on this dungeon and what to expect in terms of loot, experience, and bosses:
Hall of Thanes Quests
There are a total of 5 quests for this dungeon. Two are located directly outside the dungeon, two are found in the dungeon, and the final quest, which appears to be the "main" quest, is started in Dun Morogh after looting a Dark Iron Map from a Dark Iron Dwarf. Players can start the quest chain leading to the mobs that drop this item by finding the quest A Visitor to Dun Morogh from Beldin Steelgrill in the Steelgrill Depot.
The 5 Hall of Thanes quests include:
Important Heirlooms
The Restless Dead
Old Ironforge Incursion
An Ancient Grudge
The Treaty of Understanding
Keep in mind, all these quests are Alliance-only. Notable rewards for the Hall of Thanes quests include:
TypeItemQuest
Two-Hand Mace Ironforge Greathammer Old Ironforge Incursion
Wand Deepblaze Old Ironforge Incursion
Off-Hand Dwarven Tome Important Heirlooms
Cloak Catacomb Cloak An Ancient Grudge
Hall of Thanes Bosses
Hall of Thanes has a total of four bosses:
Faldrim Anvilma (Undead): This boss is fairly easy, but watch the nasty debuff he'll place on your tank. Make sure to clear out trash around him before pulling.
Magmatus (Elemental): Kill the summoner add first, and tank Magmatus away from the rest of the group to mitigate the damage from his AoE.
Plunder (Elemental): His knockback will send you quite far, so make sure no one will be knocked into a trash pack that might wipe the group.
Durgen Dirgehammer (Humanoid): This boss will fear, so make sure to clear out the trash along the edges of the room (but not the golems; those will pull the boss). Killing a golem and then wiping doesn't make the golem respawn, so if you're facing an inevitable wipe, burn down a golem to make the next pull easier.
One notable piece of loot from the final boss is this powerful one-handed axe: Durgen's Crescent Axe!
Hall of Thanes Trash
The trash here is not complex; however, it does hit pretty hard! Players without any sort of crowd control, especially entering at a lower level, may struggle to kill some of these packs, especially towards the final boss, as the damage output is no joke.
