Xal’atath’s Feet – TechRaptor Interview on Midnight: Eclipse

In an interview with TechRaptor, Blizzard discussed Xal'atath's feet and the new player experience.

TechRaptor Interview

TechRaptor interviewed:

Paul Kubit (Associate Game Director)

Kim Flack (Senior Game Designer)

We've summarized the interview below, but you can see the original pieces on TechRaptor.

Interview Summary

Xal'atath

Players noticed that Xal'atath got into a heavily guarded place easily. This wasn't an "oversight on the Titans," and there are missing pieces of the story.

The body that Xal'atath possesses loves to float, and that's why you typically get an angle of her feet. In addition, based on the way the community and cinematic team react to a shot, they might add another shot.

They want to make sure to pay attention to the community.

She has brought a much darker tone to WoW, as Midnight was always going to be the dark middle chapter of the Worldsoul Saga.

Paladins

They decided to add three new races to become Paladins in Patch 12.2, as it ties into the story.

The Light and Void are two sides of the same coin.

There will be quests that give some background on how the races could become Paladins.

New Player Experience

There is too much story across too many expansions to teach to a new player.

The approach for Midnight is that you play through Exile's Reach and then Dragonflight.

Dragonflight gives you everything you need in WoW and explains what you need to do. Older expansions don't have that.

They plan to improve the War Within recap.
