Stand in the Soak: Prevent Wipes in Temple of Sethraliss on the Final Boss

Players during Battle for Azeroth knew the mechanics of Temple of Sethraliss very well, but now that it has returned again for this season's Mythic+ rotation, the dungeon has received a revamp to update and freshen mechanics for an extra challenge. If you're looking to jump into the redesigned dungeon, you should remember something critical: the final boss, Avatar of Sethraliss, has a mechanic that will inevitably cause a wipe if not handled properly. Players must soak the green orbs from the Corrupted Guardian.

Midnight Season 2 Mythic+ Guide

During phase one, a Corrupted Guardian spawns that players must defeat. Once the guardian is defeated, it casts Unstable Corruption, creating a large purple circle for players to run out of; after the cast finishes, three green orbs spawn where the Guardian was.

The green orbs spawn after defeating the Corrupted Guardian.

DPS players need to soak these orbs shortly after the add dies to prevent wiping the group. The orbs heal the Avatar when soaked, but failing to soak them in time causes a Corruption Burst, which makes the orbs explode for large amounts of damage. Corruption Burst also causes players to take 100% increased damage from the ability, meaning if multiple orbs explode, the damage will be too overwhelming to push through.

Tanks and Healers should avoid soaking these orbs unless necessary due to the Corruption debuff. After soaking an orb, you gain a stack of Corruption, placing a 15-second DoT on you that increases the Physical Damage you take by 250% and reduces healing done by 33%. This debuff places a large threat on Tanks' survivability and makes it harder for Healers to heal the Avatar throughout the fight. As a general rule, DPS players should look to soak one orb each.
