Specialization Changes in Classic+
In this article, we'll be going over both survey results and player submissions from the Classic+ Project. If you'd like to take the survey or pitch an idea yourself, feel free to visit wowclassic.plus to learn more.
Dungeon Changes in Classic+
As a part of the wowclassic.plus survey, players were asked to choose the top 3 dungeons that they think need major revamps in the next iteration of Classic. Please note that the options did not include level 60 Dungeons, such as Scholomance, Stratholme, Dire Maul, or Upper Blackrock Spire.
Many respondents agreed that Gnomeregan, The Stockades, and Sunken Temple could all use a rework in Classic+, as the pathing in these dungeons tends to be convoluted or repetitive. Luckily, Blizzard already revamped Gnomeregan and Sunken Temple during Season of Discovery, so it's possible that these could be used in Classic+ as well, but maybe tuned as 5-player Dungeons rather than level-up raids.
In addition to individual dungeons that could use a revamp, the majority of players agree that they would like to see some kind of Heroic Dungeon system implemented in Classic+, similar to how Heroic dungeons currently work in The Burning Crusade Anniversary. While Heroic dungeons can be a fun challenge, players also agree that they do not want a timed Mythic+ system, similar to Retail WoW.
Players also agree on a couple of quality-of-life features, including the current Looking for Group tool that exists on Anniversary servers. While players want the option to find groups quickly with Dungeon Finder, they agree that this tool should not instantly teleport players to the dungeons, but instead act as a way to form groups easily.
While players agree that they do not want the Dungeon Finder Tool to teleport them to the instance upon forming a group, 72% of players agree that activating Summoning Stones at the entrance of dungeons would be a nice quality-of-life improvement.
New Dungeons in Classic+
In addition to revamping older content and introducing more features, players have also been discussing new dungeons that they would like to see in a future version of Classic.
Syndicate Conclave
The highest upvoted user-submitted suggestion for a new dungeon is the Syndicate Conclave in the Alterac Mountains. The user suggests that this dungeon would be intended for players level 36-41, and would serve as the final blow to the Syndicate terrorizing the surrounding area.
Entering this dungeon would take place as a follow-up to reclaiming Stromgarde Keep, and members of the Ravenholdt faction would offer quests and rewards to destroy these Syndicate fiends for good. The user also mentions that there could be more quests specifically for Rogues, where they could earn significant rewards and reputation with Ravenholdt.
Scarlet Enclave
The second-highest performing suggestion comes from the final raid of Season of Discovery - the Scarlet Enclave. Like the Syndicate Conclave, this dungeon would wrap up the storyline of the infamous Scarlet Crusade.
This raid was highly regarded when it was introduced in Season of Discovery, and Blizzard could rebalance this instance to turn it into a 5-player dungeon, rather than a raid. The user who submitted this suggestion also mentions that this dungeon could serve as the end of the Legendary Ashbringer questline, where players who looted the Corrupted Ashbringer from Naxxramas would come to the Scarlet Enclave to cleanse and redeem this iconic two-handed sword.
Karazhan Crypts
Another entry from Season of Discovery, players were extremely impressed with the Karazhan Crypts dungeon, and many agree that they would like to see this instance in a future version of Classic.
In addition to this new dungeon, the user suggests that players will be sent to the Karazhan Crypts as a part of a questline involving the mages of Dalaran. As part of the attunement questline, players would work with the Kirin’Tor and Mediv to investigate leylines and help contain loose and dangerous magics around Azeroth.
Deatholme
Originally introduced as the final subzone of the Ghostlands in The Burning Crusade, players agree that Deatholme could also work as a high-level dungeon.
While the user who submitted this entry provides few details, this dungeon would appear in the new zone of Quel'Thalas. Even as an outdoor subzone in The Burning Crusade, there is enough content within its walls to warrant a separate instance.
Venture Co. Harbor
The next user-submitted dungeon on this list is very unique, as it would be the only dungeon to include the Venture Co. as the main enemy, and it would be the first and only dungeon in the Zone of Stonetalon Mountains. The user suggests that Venture Co. Harbor would fit on the northern side of Stonetalon, connecting the Windshear Crag with Mirkfallon Lake. Perhaps the area where Gerenzo Wrenchwhistle resides above Cragpool Lake could serve as this dungeon's entrance.
This instance would be level-appropriate for the zone, intended for players who are level 25-30, with the final boss being level 28. Alliance players could be sent to this area after the completion of the Defias storyline, and Horde players would align with the Steamwheedle Cartel to put an end to their competition.
Timbermaw Prison
The final dungeon idea with over 1,000 upvotes is the Timbermaw Prison in the zone of Azshara. The user suggests that while leveling in Felwood and Azshara, players will learn that the Timbermaw furbolgs are in charge of imprisoning Fel influences. With the corruption of Azeroth growing out of control, the shackles binding these dangerous prisoners are weakening, and it is up to us, the players, to intervene before they're able to escape.
The second part of this entry would lead to an epic adventure alongside Illidan Stormrage, where players learn more of what is buried beneath Azeroth, explore the Emerald Dream, and eventually make their way to a Vanilla version of Northrend.
These are just the highest-voted Dungeon ideas with over 1,000 votes. If you'd like to explore more user-submitted ideas or submit one yourself, head over to the World section of wowclassic.plus.
