Blizzard Taking Steps to Reduce Dungeon Boosting & Gold Farming – The Burning Crusade Anniversary

Blizzard has detected players entering dungeons and not engaging in "meaningful gameplay". As a result, changes will be made to how players can earn experience and items while in a dungeon. These changes will primarily affect players who are getting boosted or who are farming dungeons for gold. These changes will take place as part of scheduled maintenance on April 14th.

We’ve observed a significant number of Burning Crusade players entering dungeons and then participating in no meaningful gameplay, often while only one party member plays through the instance. When this is prominent, it can lead to detrimental economic effects, among other concerns, so we’re implementing a series of hotfixes to address it.

The Burning Crusade Classic

Dungeons

Players must participate in combat to receive experience from dungeons.

The amount of loot dropped by non-boss enemies in high-level dungeons is now determined by how many players participate in the kill.

The vast majority of players who participate in dungeon groups as usual should see no difference after these updates.

These changes will go into effect with scheduled weekly maintenance in each region.
