Midnight Tier Sets: Season 1Season 1 Embellishments & Crests
Extra Catalyst Charges
Every two weeks, players automatically gain a new Catalyst charge, allowing them to convert any normal piece of armor into its equivalent set item, the primary way of completing tier bonuses. This is the second guaranteed bonus of the season, which means all players should at least have access to their two-piece.
Cloaks, Wrists, Belts, and Boots can also be catalyzed to change their stats, though they will not grant set bonuses!
If they haven't already achieved 1,600 PvP rating or 2,000 Mythic+ score, players can also earn Midnight Season 1: Champion of the Dawn and its extra Catalyst charge by defeating Midnight Falls in the newly available March on Quel'Danas raid on Heroic difficulty, though it's not yet clear how challenging the untested boss may be on its first week of release. With this being a third potential catalyst charge, players will only need one additional tier piece from raid or the Vault to make their full four-piece bonus.
The final boss of Midnight Season 1 also drops a Chiming Void Curio, which can be exchanged for a tier piece of choice, though of course this is a contested drop, rather than an achievement awarded to all players.
The new Midnight Season 1: Catalyst Unbound achievement encourages players to spend their catalyst charges to make their set as soon as possible, since completing the four-piece set bonus will allow Crystallized Dawnlight Manaflux to be collected as personal loot from dungeons, delves, PvP, and raid content. This allows players to spend their charges more liberally than in seasons past, even on lower item level gear they might not normally use, since there's less fear of having to wait another two weeks to accrue a new charge to replace the item with a stronger one. Although the drop is very random, there does not appear to be any kind of cap on them, as four drops in a single week has been reported.
More Crafting Sparks
Each week, players can earn a Spark of Radiance by completing either Unity Against the Void or a relevant PvP quest from Zerella, with two sparks required to craft most endgame items. Alongside the extra gained from Midnight: World Tour upon reaching level 90, this week should be player's 6th spark, allowing them to craft their third endgame item or their second if they previously made a two-handed weapon.
Any sparks you missed from previous seasons can still be obtained by completing various group activities.
If you previously crafted a two-handed weapon, this is a very important spark for your second embellished item. If instead this is your third spark-crafted item of the season, then the general advice is to fill any remaining gaps in your current gear. In either case, check our previous Best Crafted Gear and Embellishments highlight for an idea on what to craft, or proceed directly to your class guide for more up to date suggestions.
