Are Mega Servers Right for Classic?
Level 70 Quests
In addition to checking out gold values for Level 70 characters and players under Level 70, we examined the gold values being provided to players for Level 70 quests. Kaghoegaming recently covered this topic, as well.
There were some quests highlighted in the video, such as The Ashtongue Broken, which gave 7 gold and 59 silver. We cross-referenced this quest with a video from WoW Quests dated June 8, 2021, and the same gold was given. It should be noted, though, that while Questie lists this as a Level 70 quest, it can technically be picked up at Level 68.
Additionally, there was a Reddit thread about this topic, expressing concern that the gold values weren't accurate and citing a document posted in a separate thread that isn't an official source, but led players to believe there was potentially more gold to be earned. The player mentioned the quest The Ata'mal Terrace. They were concerned about receiving only 11 gold and 40 silver. Again, cross-referencing to a video from TBC Classic, this time from BloodyFox Gaming, that amount is accurate.
A player on the forums alleged the same thing, citing the same quest, saying that the 11 gold, 40 silver is the same amount awarded pre-Level 70. Unfortunately, we were unable to test this because this quest can only be picked up once you complete the quest Seer Udalo, which is done in The Arcatraz. Thus, the only players that would technically have access to this quest before Level 70 would be a Druid with Flight Form, which we didn't have access to.
Level 68 Compared to Level 70 Gold Values
Diving into this investigation ourselves, we examined the gold values for quests that were available at Level 70 that hadn't been completed yet, along with a Level 68 player who also hadn't done the quest. This included checking out quests like Wanted: Uvuros, Scourge of Shadowmoon and A Ghost in the Machine.
We found that the Level 70 was getting more gold than the Level 68 for both quests, with "A Ghost in the Machine" awarding 4 gold 10 silver to the Level 68, and 11 gold 48 silver to the Level 70. As for "Wanted: Uvuros, Scourge of Shadowmoon," this quest awarded the Level 68 13 gold 20 silver, whereas the Level 70 received 22 gold 68 silver.
It would appear that while players may be concerned that gold values for quests in TBC Classic Anniversary seem low, they are accurate, given our research.
