What to Do During the The Burning Crusade Anniversary Pre-Patch

Once the Burning Crusade Pre-Patch goes live, players will have plenty to do to prepare for the Dark Portal opening on February 5th. Let's break down what players should look to do during this three-week intermission phase between Classic and TBC!

TBC Classic Pre-Patch Overview

New Races, New Mains

The Pre-Patch introduces Blood Elves to the Horde and Draenei to the Alliance. These classes come with a unique feature of offering what was once the opposite factions' unique class - the Paladin and Shaman, respectively. This major addition to each faction means a plethora of players re-rolling their main characters going into The Burning Crusade. This means that maxing out their character to 60 becomes the number 1 priority!

Players will get to level their Blood Elves through the beautiful Eversong Woods and learn about the morbid pasts of the Ghostlands, while the Draenei will recover and collect their bearings on Azurmyst and Bloodmyst Isle, following the horrific crash of the Exodar. Once these races reach level twenty, they will continue their venture off into Azeroth with the rest of the playerbase.

Players will welcome the new buffs to leveling, with around a 15% reduction of experience needed to level from level 20-60, and experience gained by quests increased up to 40% once players are level 30! Players can also explore the new quests added to Dustwallow Marsh, and also find questing to be a lot easier now that most elite quest mobs become non-elites! Nostalgic group quests such as Wanted! Otto and Falconcrest or Job Opening: Guard Captain of Revantusk Village can now be done solo!

Level Up Your Professions

During the TBC Pre-Patch, players will look to find what their new best professions are for their characters, and one of those may be the new Jewelcrafting profession coming this expansion! Players can get a head start on this leveling up this profession before the expansion actually drops by prospecting ore and making necklaces, rings, and trinkets for themselves and others!

Gear Up Before the Dark Portal Opens

In the TBC Pre-Patch, all restrictions on PvP gear, such as reputation or rank requirements, are lifted, making it so everyone can obtain this gear simply by earning Honor Points and Marks of Honor. Players who previously could not do the extraneous grind to Rank 14 for the Grand Marshall or High Warlord gear can finally do so now. This will arguably be the fastest and easiest way for players to gear up boosted or fresh level 60s!

Players will be grinding it out in battlegrounds for days, farming up not only for level 60 pvp gear, but also saving up on Honor Points and Marks of Honor for instant level 70 Pre-Raid BiS gear. There are PvP epic boots, bracers, necklaces, and belts that classes, especially tanks, will want to get their hands on right when they hit level 70, and they can do so with the right amount of Honor and Marks of Honor!

Save up for epic flying

With TBC comes one of the most controversial features in World of Warcraft - Flying Mounts. Regular flying will be incredibly accessible to all players who reach level 70. However, Epic flying will be much more luxurious. Players should look to save and earn as much gold as possible through professions, the Auction House, and any leftover quests they may have missed out on!
