Masterworking Increases Affix Values Again – Diablo 4 Season 11

In response to Diablo 4 Season 11 PTR, Blizzard has changed the Quality stat obtained from Masterworking to once again improve affix values on items. When this Masterworking rework was able to be tested on the test realms, Quality only improved the base damage/armor/resistance on gear, leading to a considerable drop in stat value from items.

Sanctification System in Season 11 Season 11 Overview Masterworking Guide
Blizzard seems to agree with the feedback that gear wasn't strong enough, and has now changed the Quality stat to give 1% affix value per Quality. With a maximum of 25 Quality from Masterworking, and the Sanctification system giving another 25 Quality as an option, items could have 50% stronger affixes now compared to the PTR iteration.

The Capstone bonus has also been changed, upgrading a random affix by 50% instead of turning it into a Greater Affix. In combination with the Quality changes, that means a specific, targeted Greater Affix on an item could have its value doubled.

Masterworking now uses item Quality as a metric of progress, which gives a bonus to the base damage, armor, or resistance of an item as well as any affixes on the item.

Items can be Masterworked to a maximum Quality threshold of 25. Each time you Masterwork the item, it adds a random amount of Quality to the item (from 2-5 levels). Quality will also slightly boost all affix values by 1% per Quality level. Note that the cost to Masterwork now scales based off the Quality of your item.

Once at maximum Quality, you can roll it one last time for a Capstone Bonus. This Capstone Bonus upgrades a random affix on your item by 50%, including Greater Affixes. You can then choose to re-roll the Masterworked Greater Affix, without resetting your Masterworking Quality. Re-rolling the current Masterworked Affix will cost Obducite and Neathiron.

Additionally, we’re increasing the amount of base affixes found on non-unique items from three to four.
