The data for this article was taken from the Raider.io statistics for Mythic+ dungeon participation during the week of August 26th. We will look at data for all key levels to display the reality for all players doing keys.

The idea of this article is to give a perspective of the current state of class balance for The War Within Season 3 Mythic+ dungeons, meaning this is an incomplete picture of balance.

We say perspective, as there are inherent biases in looking at the data this way.

Specs considered underpowered are generally played less and tend to appear weaker than they are.

This happens as many performance-oriented players tend to play the strongest spec or class, increasing the gap between top and bottom specs even further.

Since all metrics shown deal with popularity, they aren't directly attached to spec balance, but to community perception of spec balance.

Depletion Rates for Season 3 Keys - September 2nd
An important metric to consider is the depletion rate of keys. A higher-than-average depletion rate for a dungeon is usually tied to dungeons that are harder than their counterparts. Meanwhile, a dungeon with a very low depletion rate compared to others likely indicates a dungeon that is easier to push to higher key levels.

Below, you can see the Raider.io distribution for each Season 3 dungeon. At the top, in blue, you have timed keys, while the bottom bar, in red, shows the depletion rate for that key. Similar to last week, Ara-Kara continues to be the hardest dungeon this season, though it was nerfed with this weekly reset.

Key Level Distribution in Season 3 - Week of September 2nd
Another interesting metric is to look at what key levels are being done. Key levels usually indicate important milestones in gearing or achievements. According to Raider.io, roughly 100,000 +10 Keystones were depleted in week 4 of Season 3 Mythic+. This was a substantial drop in comparison to last week, with roughly 160.000 +10 Keystones depleted last week.

Historically, most players aren't interested in pushing key levels mindlessly, instead focusing on completing achievements like The War Within Keystone Master: Season Three, completing the fastest keys to obtain Hero track gear or the most efficient levels to farm crests.
