Global Cross-Region Friends Lists Coming to Battle.net

Blizzard has announced that Global Friends Lists are coming to Battle.net in a June 8th update. Thanks to stanzillaz for spotting this.

You still can't play with friends in different regions, but you can communicate with players across Europe, the Americas, and Asia which is a nice addition to the app. Of course, players are hoping this leads to even more in the future, like cross-region characters, but Blizzard has not indicated that is planned.

Wailing Caverns Mini-Set – Hearthstone Runs a WoW Dungeon!

While World of Warcraft players have made their way through the Dark Portal yet again with the release of The Burning Crusade Classic, Hearthstone keeps it the “real Classic way” and further explores the wilderness of the Barrens.

With the year’s first mini-set called Wailing Caverns, the Forged in the Barrens expansion introduces Hearthstone players to WoW’s original dungeon experience located in the heart of the Horde leveling zone.

EU Players Unable to Redeem Original The Burning Crusade Collectors Edition

European players looking to redeem their Burning Crusade Collector's Edition codes from 2007 have been surprised to learn that they are no longer able to redeem its code for their Netherwhelp's Collar in both Shadowlands and The Burning Crusade Classic.

The reason for the inability is because European players had to do extra steps in order to do their Collector's Edition redemption.

Frost Giant Studios Announces Partnership with Dreamhaven – Licensing Unreal Engine 5 for New RTS Title

Alongside their partnership with Lightforge Games, One More Game, and Raid Base, Mike Morhaime's Dreamhaven will also be advising Frost Giant Studios, a small new game studio made up of former Blizzard developers intent on revitalizing the real-time strategy genre.

According to VentureBeat, Dreamhaven will be acting in an advisory capacity, assisting with product development consultation, pre-production feedback, and playtesting.

No BlizzCon 2021, But Blizzard Planning a Global Event for Early 2022

Blizzard has announced that there will be no BlizzCon 2021, but teased plans for a global event with small in-person gatherings for early 2022.

While COVID restrictions are starting to lift in California, BlizzCon is a massive event that requires months of preparation time. For the event to occur in November, planning would have needed to started when the pandemic was still raging in California which would have been unsafe.
