NanoNost shared a video on Youtube, explaining what the Nostalrius Developer team went through from launching Nostalrius, leading up to Blizzcon's announcement of World of Warcraft Classic servers.

NanoNost's video goes in depth, with talking points covering moments between Nostalrius launching and leading up to the Classic announcement at Blizzcon 2017. One year after launching Nostalrius, the community had grown to over 730,000 unique accounts, and over 2,000,000 characters created.
