Aqir Invasions
Aqir Invasions were a major feature added in Patch 12.1.5, which came with new rewards and achievements. If you head to the rewards vendors, an optional dialogue prompt asks if the Aqir Invasions would ever stop, and Matildeux Osril replies, "The Aqir will fall like did," noting that Renown catch-up would be removed. The cosmetic rewards, however, would still be available, with an increase in price.
In addition, many players noticed that the Aqir Invasions achievements were Feats of Strength, which is usually only done when the content is available for a limited time. These two things heavily implied to those who saw this dialogue option that Aqir Invasions are a limited-time activity.
With Patch 12.1.7's PTR now available for testing, Aqir Invasions are no longer available on the PTR. This means that all the Aqir Invasion achievements will no longer be able to be completed, and the costs to buy rewards have indeed been increased, with the reputation requirement removed.

Right now, it costs 11,700 Voidlight Marl to buy one of everything once you've hit Exalted reputation. After the patch, however, the total cost will be 16,900 Voidlight Marl.
If you're looking to purchase any of these items and want to save some Voidlight Marl, you may want to grind some Aqir Invasions reputation. Otherwise, if you'd rather spend more Voidlight Marl and not have to worry about farming the reputation, then buy the cosmetics after the Patch. If you don't do Aqir Invasions, the only thing you'd be missing out on are the four Feat of Strength achievements and the title.
