At PAX Australia, many creators had the opportunity to interview Holly Longdale and Clay Stone. Fiamma has released her interview on her YouTube Channel.,
We've summarized some of the key points below.
Cross Region
There are technical challenges with cross-region.
This is the first time they're attempting to go realmless, where players only need to choose the rulesets.
This is working really well on the Beta, but this is as far as they can take it right now.
It's not that they don't want to try it, but they need time.
Character Caps
They haven't announced what the character cap is at launch yet for WoW: Forever.
There are technical limits on it.
Porting Features to Retail
When asked if there's a chance that Forever features such as the Transmog changes can come to Retail, Holly responds with an immediate "yes".
They just have to talk about what's appropriate for each game.
Holly will talk with Ion about it.
Feedback
They look at every venue for feedback: Reddit, videos, etc.
For WoW: Forever, they listen everywhere: forums, social media, watching YouTube videos, YouTube comments. They are everywhere.
When the big topics come up, they have heard of them.
Then it comes to priority and how quickly they can get to stuff.
It's also whether they agree it's right for the game.
There are internal Blizzard employees who are massive collectors.
Even on the Forever team, some developers play more Retail than Classic, so there's internal feedback as well.
About the Devs
Clay's favorite mount is a Dire Wolf, as he plays an Orc.
Holly's favorite mount is the Friendship Fox for right now.
Holly started playing at Launch and was in the WoW Beta.
Clay started playing in 2006, just before the Burning Crusade.
Art Style
There's lots of training and mentoring.
Forever is in a different art and training path than Retail.
There's a lot of talent.
