Interview Part 1Interview Part 2Interview Part 3
TechRadar had an interview with Blizzard on WoW: Forever and released information across multiple articles. We've summarized some of the key points from their articles:
Class Design
Blizzard is not looking to modernize WoW: Forever classes.
They don't want to overhaul the Classic classes that players are familiar with.
Classes should be simpler but have engaging depth.
They like the pacing and combat speed of original WoW
They do not want cheap respecs. The price will climb quickly and reset once per week.
Encounter Design
The encounter team played a lot of Classic dungeons and raid content to understand how it felt.
Classic encounters were very approachable.
They want to still be creative and surprise the player, but they want everyone to return to the core pillars.
Races
There are no plans to add Retail races to WoW: Forever.
They want to build the game off of the foundational lore.
Summoning Stones
Quick access to teleports shrinks the World.
It also intrudes on part of the class identity of Warlocks.
