Melee Soulcoiler
On Mythic Coiled Altar in Phase 2, Malacrass summons two Soulcoilers in two random corners of the arena multiple times. Phase 2 has a tight DPS check and the RNG of where the Soulcoiler spawns can lead to some big DPS swings. If a Soulcoiler spawns in melee, it's a lot easier to deal with than if it doesn't.
Blizzard recently announced tuning to Mythic Coiled Altar, which includes a change to make the Soulcoilers more consistent.
1 Spiteful Soulcoiler will always spawn nearby Malacrass on Mythic difficulty.
This would be great for consistency... if it were implemented. Mythic guilds that pulled Coiled Altar last night noticed that this hotfix does not appear to be active, with the Soulcoiler avoiding melee on some spawns.
Until this is fixed, make sure to still call out which one is ranged and which one is the melee Soilcoiler.
Ghost Fixates
One of the biggest undocumented changes was to the Ghost Fixates. Once a player gets a fixate, ghost fixates tend to prioritize other players rather than the same player. This makes the fixates spread out across the entire raid. Due to a side effect of the system, tanks are now eligible targets for the fixates and will have to deal with it.
If no one dies, this is how the fixates will go on the boss encounter.
Set 1: Picks 8 random non-tanks.
Set 2: Picks 8 random non-tanks that were not in Set 1.
Set 3: Picks the 2 leftover players, and the 2 tanks. Picks 4 Random other players to get it again.
Set 4: Is exactly the same players as in Set 1.
Set 5: Is exactly the same players as in Set 2.
There's more consistency now, but tanks will have to not to get caught off guard because they will always get a ghost fixate on wave #3. You can see the rotation in Poptart Corndog's kill from last night.
