Titan Reforged, Community Votes, and the Future of Classic: Psybear Interview with Ion Hazzikostas and Paul Kubit

World of Warcraft content creator Psybear_tv recently sat down with Ion Hazzikostas (Game Director of World of Warcraft) and Paul Kubit (Associate Game Director of World of Warcraft), and while the majority of the interview was centered around World of Warcraft: Midnight and the modern game, there were three chapters that had some questions and exchanges related to the future of Classic WoW.

This article focuses on the Classic content of the interview, but there's much more information related to Retail as well - if you're interested in what's in store for the rest of Midnight and beyond, check out our summary of the rest of the interview here:

Interview Summary

Blizzcon 2026

Hazzikostas said it's going to be "an amazing BlizzCon for Warcraft fans broadly speaking."

Hazzikostas added that "all will be revealed soon."

At the start of this line of questioning, Psybear jokingly said he had to check his "cam a lot" (referring to his camera). This is important because after Hazzikostas answered, he told Psybear to "keep checking your cam."

Titan Reforged Realms

For those unaware, Titan Reforged realms were essentially the Season of Discovery equivalent, but for China. This was not available for players elsewhere.

Hazzikostas mentions that, while Titan Reforged was exclusive to China, things such as Plunderstorm of the first Modern WoW "Remix" weren't available in China.

Titan Reforged was a response to demand and to the way Chinese players were playing the game differently from the rest of the world, including an emphasis on raiding and doing so across multiple characters.

Hazzikostas said that "based on everything we had seen and heard from players in the West" that didn't align with how they were playing Classic.

Hazzikostas specifically said that when they look at Classic, they want to be mindful of the community.

One of the major interesting things Hazzikostas added was that every time they add a new experience, whether that's Season of Discovery or Hardcore, they potentially "splinter and fragment" that community in ways "that could be to the detriment of all of them."

Hazzikostas said they were open to bringing Titan Reforged to the West, and they were looking for reactions to it, and he said it was "more of a murmur than an outcry."

Hazzikostas said that they want to "keep staying agile, looking at things like the seasons that we've done in Classic in the past; there's been a lot of exciting ideas that have come from those, and that's something we want to continue to explore where it makes sense."

Hazzikostas said that, at this point, the window for Titan Reforged coming to the West has "probably passed or closed."

At the tail-end of this section, Kubit chimed in and said that while Titan Reforged may not come to the United States (in so many words), you "mine it for ideas."

Community Voting
While this section was generally centered around modern WoW, there were some interesting "in general" comments from Hazzikostas regarding community voting. This is often mentioned in "Classic+" discussions: the concept of the community voting on additions, similar to what Old School RuneScape provides its players.

Hazzikostas said that the challenge with voting in a game like WoW, with "very diverse playstyles" and different preferences, is that it could lead to one faction of players "dominating the vote and outcome."
