As expressed by Principal Designer Jesse Kurlancheek, the new storage limit allows players to have more decor ready for use in their collection, which is great for high-effort builders who may decide to create a whole new look on the fly, or players who simply want many multiples in order to save a trip when they decide they want to put in a new lamp.
The storage limit can be seen inside the house editor UI.
Along with this, players can now place more pets in and around their home. Up to 100 can be placed inside, while the exterior limit has been raised to 25, which is still more than double the 10 which was originally announced.
The exterior decor limit is actually 350 at housing Level 7.
While pet beds themselves contribute to the total amount of internal or external decor limits, they appear to be static, so that a level 1 house can accommodate the same number of pets as a level 12. Budget well spent.
