Defeat Ral’kala Fifty Times to Earn Special Prey Achievement in Patch 12.1

Alongside the updates coming to Prey in Patch 12.1 is a new questline to get to the bottom of an ancient curse and face Ral'kala, Terror of the Isle!

Patch 12.1 Overview

As a nightmare-specific challenge, the new Prey questline begins with Prey: A Slithering Threat after discovering the Coiled Isle. Unsurprisingly, Astalor is interested in this new source of power, which leads to coordinating with his assistant to explore an ancient curse.

This unlocks Ral'kala as a repeatable boss encounter summoned on the Coiled Isle during Nightmare Prey Hunts. Serving as another source of Corrosive Souls and Corrosive Coins, the boss also drops unique rewards: Hooked Net Trap decor, Pale Hexscale pet, and Hexflame Reaver mount.

The first victory will grants the One, Two, Ral'kala's Coming for You achievement and Preyhunter's Terror Bust decor, while those who exhibit enough dedication and perseverance to defeat the boss fifty times will earn Nine, Ten, Never Sleep Again and the Preyhunter's Terror Effigy!

Fifty victories is an awful lot, though it's not something that needs to be rushed. The boss is repeatable, so this is something that is intended to be done over the course of the season rather than in one sitting, and defeating him is a helpful way of farming extra Corrosive Coin used for a variety of cosmetic rewards, including several mounts.

The coins are also used within the Vaults of Atal'Utek, an open world space inside the Coiled Isle, which challenges players to work together to defeat the forces of Ula’tek. Aid ancient Amani spirits in fighting back evil undead and serpentine monsters, gathering Corrosive Coins to empower the Altar of Corrosion, gaining permanent benefits to help survive the poisonous isle.

The Altar of Corrosion is a new outdoor-only power system in Patch 12.1, offering several benefits to help traverse and survive the Coiled Isle.
