How Big is the Continent of the Eastern Kingdoms?

As a part of his project to explore and measure the world of Azeroth, YouTuber 720 Zone walked all the way from the docks of Booty Bay to the gates of Stratholme, just to show the approximate size of the Eastern Kingdoms. In addition to this in-game walk, 720 zone also imported the full map of the Eastern Kingdoms into the Blender modeling tool to measure the area.

What is Project Camelot?

The entire journey was completed in 72 minutes and 34 seconds, equating to around 17.32 miles or 27.88 kilometers in the real world. The total area of the continent was measured to be about 86.5 square kilometers or 33.4 square miles. This is equivalent to about 1.5 Manhattan Islands in New York City, or roughly the size of the German city of Würzburg.

In addition to the total area of the Eastern Kingdoms continent, 720 Zone also measured each zone to determine the largest and smallest zones, in terms of total area. Interestingly, Dun Morogh is the largest zone on the continent, while, not surprisingly, Deadwind Pass was measured to be the smallest.

While it is interesting to compare measurements of in-game land to real-world examples, it should be noted that these dimensions are not necessarily accurate to the true lore size of the world of Azeroth. In Bellular's video on the topic, he estimates the diameter of Azeroth to be about 12-25 kilometers, or about 500-1,000 times smaller than Earth. If Earth were 1,000 times smaller, then the continent of North America would be just over 14 kilometers long, which is nearly the same length as the Eastern Kingdoms.
