Are Prey Traps Nerfed in Patch 12.0.5?

Many players have been completing Nightmare Hunts in Prey by clicking on traps. However with Patch 12.0.5, Prey Traps may be more scarce -- was there a nerf in the Patch?

Prey Guide

The most efficient way to complete Nightmare Hunts is by clicking on traps. While Blizzard gave many options for finding your Prey target, the Nightmare Hunts puts players on a timer, with constantly being tasked to kill mobs, be attacked by ghostly NPCs and a stacking damage taken buff. Flying to find rares, or complete world quests takes a lot of time where players are more at risk of dying and having to start all over again.

With the Patch, players have been noticing that traps seem to be less common, especially in the Prey World Quest areas. While traps are never shared, the spawn rate on traps has been noticed, and even in a relatively empty phase, players have noticed that there doesn't seem to be many traps anymore. There was a Reddit Thread and another Reddit Thread, commenting on the nerf as well as players reporting and noticing the change through Discord. Interestingly, Prey traps seem to have a new and larger icon as well this Patch which may indicate that traps were indeed looked at.

This change may only be related to areas around the Prey World Quests, and traps can still be found in decent clumps if the zone is completely empty.

If you search around the World Quest area and there is nothing there, try flying around the zone as there are traps across the entire zone. Is it slower? Yes, absolutely. But you can still get Nightmare Prey done relatively quickly by flying around the zone rather than a concentrated area.
