Midnight Falls to Team Liquid – World First Champions of the March on Quel’Danas

Following the discovery of a completely new secret phase and an insane back and forth between frontrunners over 473 pulls, Team Liquid has marched on Quel'Danas, conquering Mythic Midnight Falls and continuing their unbroken winning streak as World Champions in Midnight Season 1!

Following an incredibly quick clear of The Dreamrift and Voidspire, the March on Quel’Danas received significant buffs shortly before going live, resulting in a grueling set of encounters, either of which requiring more pulls than the entire two previous raids combined.

Midnight Falls in particular presented a series of rapid-fire mechanics, placing players in different phases to demand a level of coordination unseen in any previous encounter. Once again, this would ultimately be solved with addons well outside the scope of what is normally available through in-game tools. Even with this advantage, the grueling encounter still required hundreds of pulls, with any one mistake at any point resulting in an immediate raid wipe. Reaching Phase 3 alone was a slog, surviving long enough to bring the boss to 0 is even harder... and then the secret phase begins.

As evidenced by the reactions, no one saw this coming after an already intense eight minute encounter, as L'ura regenerated back to 100% health and began a new phase featuring waves of void monstrosities assault the raiders, with only a single beacon of light to help them survive. Exciting, demoralizing, and amazing all at the same time, it showed the race was far from over and essentially reset the fight for another round. Simply getting there with enough players alive in order to finish it added another layer of challenge onto an already oppressive encounter, never mind an entirely new damage and survivability check... an incredible race for survival demanding perfect play from everyone.
