What's New with Midnight Herbalsim and Mining?
Gathering Professions traditionally don't see many changes from expansion to expansion, and Midnight is no different. For Midnight Herbalism and Midnight Mining, though, the biggest difference will be the level of danger that players face during the process.
Two of the themed Herbalism and Mining nodes for Midnight, Voidbound and Wild, come with significant hazards to keep in mind as players farm. Especially as players are working towards mounted gathering, there will be few ways to avoid the effects of these nodes.
Voidbound nodes send a wide circle of void energy around the herb or ore, drastically slowing movement speed. If you don't escape using movement speed boosts or other abilities, it will throw you to the opposite side of the void ring, which can be dangerous if there are hostile mobs or a long drop nearby. This thankfully can be circumvented once players can gather while mounted, because flying straight up will get you out of range easily. This works for Druid flight form, too!
Gathering Wild nodes causes slightly more of an issue: these will summon four Vengeful Lasher mobs (for Herbalism) or two Rumbling Oreling mobs (for Mining) that will attack you. The mobs themselves aren't deadly (unless you immediately afk after gathering), but they are significantly annoying - this will greatly slow down the gathering process until players can fly away still mounted.
