Crest Upgrade Costs Changed Again on Midnight Beta

One week before the early access launch of the expansion, the crest cost of upgrading gear has been changed again.

Crest Costs Nerfed in Midnight

We have extensively covered the Crest Cost changes in Midnight, but in the latest set of hotfixes, a curveball has been thrown to change up the crest costs once again. We've datamined some large changes to the crest economy once again:

Upgrades now require a flat 20 Crests per level (was 10/20/30/40/50 in Midnight)

Crafted pieces now require 80 Crests (was 60)

Comparing this to War Within, each upgrade costs 5 more Crests with crafted pieces requiring 20 more Crests. From our last datamining, the Crest Cap per week has been increased to 100 (was 90 in War Within), making income slightly higher. This seems like it will make gearing decisions easier, but gearing will be slightly slower when compared to War Within due to the increased cost of upgrades.

Changes to Upgrade System in Midnight

There have been a lot of changes to the upgrade system, so here's a quick summary of what we know. This hasn't been confirmed by Blizzard, and we are going off of datamining and what is currently live on the Midnight Beta, so this is subject to change again.

Crests now cap at 100 per week (was 90)

Crests now cost 20 per upgrade (was 15)

Crafted gear now costs 80 crests (was 60)

Each gear track now only accepts a singular type of Crest (Champion Gear accepts Champion Crests the entire time)

Each track has been standarized with 6 total tiers
