New Raids in Patch 12.0.7 and Patch 12.0.5for Midnight
Blizzard is introducing two new Raids in Patch 12.0.7 and Patch 12.0.5 of the Midnight expansion. These are separate from the seasonal "main" raids coming in major patches and Blizzard are excited to get away from all of the raids being consigned to the massive twice-a-year updates.
The first raid, coming in Patch 12.0.7, is named Sporefall, and will feature as a stand-alone raid with one boss. This raid will take place in Harandar, the lush and nature-filled zone of Midnight.
The other raid is planned for Patch 12.1.5, which is after the release of Midnight Season 2. While we don't have a name, it was mentioned that this raid will feature one boss. Unlike Sporefall, which is its own stand-alone raid, this raid is planned to be a direct continuation of Midnight's overarching story.
The last time we saw stand-alone raids was back in Battle for Azeroth with the Crucible of Storms raid, and before that, the Ruby Sanctum raid that followed after Icecrown. Blizzard looks to be expanding more on new styles of raid content, which is a welcome change.
Mid-Patch Raids, a new concept
In recent expansions, raids were never something players expected to see released with a mid-patch update. Instead, we'd see raids released with seasonal updates. This was roughly a six-month window before a new raid would release.
With Midnight releasing raids in mid-patch updates, along with having seasonal raids scheduled, this shortens the time between new raiding content releases.
Much remains to be seen on how these raids will operate from a gameplay perspective regarding things like loot, difficulty scaling, etc. However, what we do know is that more raid-style content is coming to WoW. What are your first impressions? Let us know in the comments below!
