Everything about Transmog
New Transmog UI in Midnight
One of the first things players will notice upon logging into 12.0 is the revamped transmogrification user interface. Some aspects remain familiar, such as the list of saved outfits on the left, or the window on the right to select an item. There are, however, some new additions to this window, such as the "Situations" tab, which will be discussed later.
Although the visuals have changed, much of the functionality players have grown used to remains the same.
Transmog Outfits in Midnight
One of the biggest changes to Transmog comes in the form of Outfits. Instead of Transmog applying to a specific item, changing item appearances affects the item slot itself, regardless of the item equipped. While a gold fee is required to unlock an outfit, swapping between saved Outfits is entirely free once they are set up. There is still a small fee for those looking to change the appearance within an Outfit.
An Important note about Outfits slots is that these are unlocked for your entire Warband, making transmogs across multiple characters much easier. In addition to that, Blizzard announced cost reductions to the unlock costs, with the first 20 outfits costing a combined 162k gold.
Transmog Situations in Midnight
The other major system coming to Transmog in Midnight is Situations. Situations are a new type of setting that can be applied to a saved Outfit, automatically applying that Outfit to your character if the conditions are met.
Conditions that can be used include:
Location (including inside Player Housing)
Movement (such as being mounted)
Specialization
Equipment Set
Racial Form
Professions
Outfits can have multiple conditions at once, but all conditions must be met for the Outfit to be applied. This new feature allows players to swap between their battle-ready transmog set and their lounge set for home. Maybe you would prefer to wear different outfits depending on your spec, even though the same items are equipped. Situations lets you do it all for free!
