Devourer Demon Hunter Core Abilities in Midnight
Devourer Demon Hunters are a mid-ranged, Intellect-based DPS specialization, with some new abilities, along with void-themed Demon Hunter abilities. Here's a quick look at some of Devourer's abilities:
Reap - A scythe attack that consumes soul fragments.
Voidblade & Hungering Slash - Melee combo with a retreat movement.
Soul Immolation - A void-based Immolation Aura that deals damage to yourself, generating Fury and Soul Fragments.
Consume - Filler cast that deals damage to the target and summons Soul Fragments.
Collapsing Star - A powerful finisher that reduces Fury drain while casting.
Void Ray - A piercing beam of Void energy.
Void Metamorphosis - Void-themed transformation sustained by soul harvesting.
Devourer Demon Hunters have an appropriately void-themed Metamorphosis.
Playing Devourer Demon Hunter in Midnight
Devourers use two core resources: Fury and Soul Fragments. The goal of Devourer is to build Fury using Consume, and spend Fury on Void Ray to generate Soul Fragments. Players can grab Soul Fragments by either running over them or being close by and using Reap.
At 50 Soul Fragments, players will be able to cast Void Metamorphosis. In Void Metamorphosis, the goal is to prevent Fury from hitting zero for as long as possible. The reason is that we want to cast as many Collapsing Star casts as possible while in Void Metamorphosis. There are two main ways to slow Fury drain while in Void Metamorphosis:
Cast Collapsing Star
Cast Void Ray
Casting Collapsing Star is only available if the player is in Void Metamorphosis and has gathered 30 Soul Fragments. Because of this, we strongly recommend talenting into Predator's Thirst for additional Soul Fragment generation.
Building and maintaining Fury in Void Metamorphosis is the same as before, by casting Consume and gathering Soul Fragments.
Hero Talents for Devourer DH in Midnight
Devourer DHs will have the choice between Void-Scarred (originally Fel-Scarred from TWW) and a new set of Hero Talents, Annihilator.
Annihilator focuses around Voidfall, a stacking buff that rains meteors once at 3 stacks and the player casts Reap. Other passive talents in the Annihilator tree include bonus movement capabilities, buffs to Voidfall damage, and more bonuses to Void Ray and Collapsing Star damage.
