Three Ways to Prepare a New Demon Hunter to Embrace the Void

The Midnight pre-patch is just a week away, and with it comes the brand new ranged Devourer Demon Hunter specialization, so here are a few quick ways to prepare a brand new character to embrace the void!

Devourer Demon Hunter Overview

Level as Devourer
The best way to learn is by doing, and because there is no unlock requirement, you can start your adventure as a Devourer Demon Hunter and level the entire way through, learning new talents and abilities as you go.

Although the Devourer specialization has no unlock requirement, creating a Void Elf Demon Hunter does require completing a short level 80 questline. This can be done on any character though, so it shouldn't be much of a delay.

As a standalone spec full of brand new abilities, this will help players acclimate to the new options and playstyles, rather than being overwhelmed by everything all at once. Leveling won't be quite as fast as it would through Legion Remix, but the extended pre-patch still affords plenty of time to do reach level 80 and experience Devourer in dungeons and raids before Midnight launches in full this March.

Level Early With Legion Remix
Leveling up early saves more time to play during the pre-patch, especially if you intend to jump right into Mythic+ or raid content as soon as servers go live. Leveling up this way still gets you some experience if you've never played a Demon Hunter before, as Havoc, Vengeance, and Devourer share many key characteristics.

With all of the warbound quests and experience bonuses available, some players have gotten this process down to under two hours, but Legion Remix ends just before the start of pre-patch, so don't delay unless you've already finished everything else.

Stacking Infinite Research quests is an excellent way of speed leveling.

Use Your Boost
Of course, the easiest option is to just use your boost! Each copy of Midnight, regardless of which edition you purchased, comes with a level 80 character boost featuring a set of entry level gear, some reputation progress, and a few more goodies to get you started. You might even have a few left over L70 boosts

If you've already tested Devourer on the PTR or Beta servers, then this can save a lot of time and effort, though you probably want to have a good Demon Hunter guide handy if you're not already familiar with how they play!
