UPDATE: Maintenance Extended By Another Hour – Servers Down Until 11:00 PM PST

Update: Blizzard has extended the 24-hour maintenance on Classic servers by an additional 1 hour. Servers are now expected to be unavailable until 11 pm PST.

Additionally, maintenance on EU servers has been delayed by an additional 3 hours, and servers are expected to be down until 09:00 am CET.

The Reason For 24-Hour Maintenance

World of Warcraft Senior Game Producer, Tom Ellis, added that the delays are due to several small issues related to the transfer between Classic Era and The Burning Crusade databases. While the process is taking much longer than expected, Ellis assures players that their characters are safe.

Real talk, yeah, it's been a long ass day, appreciate you are all chomping at the bit to get in so thanks for sticking with us. What the hell is going on? So many small things gobbling up time is the honest answer.

With these sort of new environment deploys, we would normally have the environment up and running hidden weeks if not months ahead of a launch. The process we had to go through for this one, that whole utilizing Classic Eras database thing, meant we couldn't get this environment up running as we normally would while the realms were still active in Era.

Now, we're dealing with a ton of small config and infrastructure type issues that we'd normally have ironed out over days/weeks getting things ready ahead of time and it is draining AF to be quite honest!

Your characters are fine, and we will get this bastard out the door at some point.

We fired Dave.

We will continue to monitor this situation and will update this post as new information becomes available.
