Single-Minded Fury Warrior Transmog Preview on the Midnight Beta

Although transmog has not yet been re-enabled on the Midnight Beta, we have been able to see that Fury Warriors will have the exclusive ability to transmog two-handed weapons into one-handed appearances!

Although transmog is still disabled, a little clever manipulation still allows access to the interface.

Previously on the Midnight Alpha

Before the start of public testing, we had discovered a new passive in the Warrior spellbook, giving Fury Warriors the exclusive ability to transmog two-handed weapons with the visual appearance of one-handed weapons. The spell was quickly removed before the start of public testing, though with Fury Warriors losing the Single-Minded Fury damage bonus in the Midnight talent updates, Blizzard issued a bluepost noting that the developers had plans which weren't quite ready for release yet.

The SMF passive was discovered during the private Alpha preview, but quietly removed before public testing began.

Why Fury?

This option would correct a long-running issue with Fury Warriors in which both one and two-handed weapons can be collected but not used together; often resulting in looting incompatible weapon upgrades, since one or two-handed weapons must always be paired. Experienced players avoid this by setting their loot spec to Arms, but the war between those who enjoy the fantasy of dual wielding two-handed weapons vs those who prefer the aesthetics of one-handers has raged since the Titan's Grip talent was first introduced in The Wrath of the Lich King. A transmog option has long been requested to solve this problem, a middle-ground that simplifies weapon acquisition, while still allowing each player to use their preferred visual customization.

Although a similar Rogue string has been found, only Fury appears to have any new working options.

Blizzard has yet to release any new update confirming whether this behavior will remain exclusive to Fury Warriors or extended to other classes. Though there are hints that Rogues may be able to transmog between one-handed weapons and daggers, there are several other specializations which would also appreciate the ability to change their preferred weapon visuals, such as Frost Death Knights and Enhancement Shaman, although transmogging two weapons into one appearance or one weapon into two appearances may not be quite as straightforward.

Protection cannot transmog their one-handed weapons to two-handers, and no other restrictions appear to have been lifted.

One-handed weapons are currently still on the Fury Warrior loot table in the Beta, though it seems likely that this will also change in a future update, since there would no longer be any need to collect both weapon types.
