Diablo 4 Roadmap, The Game Awards, and Uncertainty
Blizzard and Diablo are most likely set to be at The Game Awards, and although nominations aren't announced until next week, Diablo 4 was nominated last year as well, and most likely holds a firm footing in the same categories this year. There aren't many stages left this year to announce an expansion, frankly, with the year wrapping up. All the large-scale conventions (such as Gamescom 2025) were held earlier this year, and there was no BlizzCon this year, as that will return in 2026. With a complete marketing cycle and hype buildup for a new Diablo 4 expansion that needs to happen, an announcement is likely to be required months in advance. There simply is no time left to do that other than The Game Awards on December 12th.
The 2025 Roadmap has also come to an end, with the announcement of Season 11 being off the charts. Diablo fans are out of material to reference for what's coming next to the game, and there seems to be no announcement in sight. The news from earlier this week that Adam Fletcher is leaving Blizzard also doesn't help the situation, as he was one of the most vocal and responsive community managers. Will The Game Awards give the fans just what they're looking for with an expansion announcement, or will the community continue to be in the dark going into 2026?
