Players Show Off Their Creative Chops with WoW’s First Player Housing Test

The first public Player Housing test for the much-anticipated feature was this past weekend, and players are already showing off their creative chops on social media! Whether you're looking for a quiet beachfront property in Razorwind Shoals or a bustling town in Founder's Point, both Alliance and Horde neighborhoods were flooded with those looking to see what all the hype was about - and boy, did they find out for themselves.

Across Reddit, Twitter, and other social media, players posted creative housing tips and tricks, incredible thematic builds, and of course, plenty of humorous creations (Housey McHouseFace, anyone?). Every new creation was excellent, and it was hard to narrow down choices - but here are some of our favorites (and links to their original posts, full credit to the creative minds behind the designs!) that we saw over the course of the weekend.

Player Housing testing might be over, but that doesn't mean you have to be done planning - check out Wowhead's Decor Database to see every datamined Decor object!

Excellent Exteriors

Tons of players dove right into customization options, and we're already seeing some exterior designs that would rival HGTV. Trees, flowers, greenery, mood lighting - you name it, players are making gardenscapes with it, and the results are picturesque!

Player Housing doesn't just limit you to neighborhood gardens, though - some players decided to show off their skills and Faction pride with themed housing related to playable races. A giant Tauren windmill that reminds us a bit of Thunder Totem and a massive Dwarven bunker are perfect examples that, with a bit of creativity, no one is stuck with just the preset exterior options.

Of course, sometimes, you're just feeling a little Druid-y - and that's an option too, with one user making a lovely little nest for their Flight Form owl!

Incredible Interiors

So many interiors were shown off on social media, it made our heads spin - but some builds stood out as creative powerhouses for how they were put together. A beautiful bay window with cushions and a custom Alliance-themed four-post bed show off perfectly that even with the same base decorations, players can use them for anything they can imagine - and it will work.

Completed rooms are coming together beautifully as well, even with the low weight limits for early Renown housing levels. One such room, a Night-Elf themed bedroom with a custom upper floor, honestly looks as if it could be staged art from Blizzard themselves.

Tips and Tricks for Roleplaying and Comfort Alike

Of course, as with any new system like Player Housing, there will be plenty of design tips and tricks to discover. Originally posted on Twitter, Ivystwt showed off a tip to make any surface a chair: simply shrink down a chair and clip it inside!

We were so excited by this find, we just had to try it ourselves - and it works perfectly! Virtually any surface will be available to sit on with this feature, and this is just one of dozens of tips and tricks to be discovered - and more on the way.

Humor is Serious Business

Of course, not everyone decides they want High Fantasy-style housing - and that's okay, too! We can't wait to see what kind of zany contraptions our neighbors come up with, like a giant fort with its own home-made cannon or, of course, Housey McHouseface!

The great news is, there's no HOA or property taxes to worry about in Azeroth - we can all go nuts on our housing plots if we really want.

Not everyone was quite so lucky when they tried to create wacky things, though....

We'll just have to wait for Player Housing to be officially launched before those pesky Delete Me boxes are gone!
