Simplifying Professions in Midnight – Lowest Two Ranks of Crafted Quality Removed

And you know there's information that I haven't seen come out, that that we learned just from conversations with people. Stuff like... did you know Evie that they are greatly simplifying professions next expansion? That they're getting rid of bronze level stuff and silver level stuff, they're only having gold and platinum level stuff. Because no one ever wants anything less than gold and platinum, they're literally just getting rid of them. Did you know that?:

I... no, that's really good for me to know.
I did! Consider that reported, but no one's actually said it.

Taliesin is referring to the five crafting results for various professions items, which most commonly dictate the item level of weapons and armor, and are typically called quality, ranks, or tiers. In this case, Taliesin mentions four of the five as Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum, so it isn't quite clear whether he is discluding the base None rank or the maximum rank 5, but either way the point is the same: there were five ranks, at least two of which are being removed in Midnight.

Based on Taliesin's report, at least two of the five crafting ranks are being removed in Midnight.

This is just one talking point in a much larger video criticizing Blizzard's Midnight expansion reveal at Gamescom 2025. Although quite a bit of information was shared, very little of it was livestreamed or highlighted in any official Blizzard news, which left players and content creators alike hunting for snippets shared on social media or secreted away inside dozens of interviews repeating the same talking points. Even this tidbit about crafting is a perfect example, as we have no reason to doubt Taliesin's information, but there is no clear source for it either.

Interestingly, the last time Blizzard did an expansion reveal at Gamescom went much smoother. Ten years ago, World of Warcraft: Legion was revealed at Gamescom 2015 in a fully livestreamed hour-long presentation that left little doubt as to what was coming or where the information was being said. While it's certainly true that some bits and pieces were revealed in other panels, conversations, or interviews, the bulk of the information came from one clear and easily referenced place.
