Diablo 4’s Expected Seasonal PTR Livestream is Cancelled, Leaving Players Worried About Changes

Blizzard has suddenly canceled their routine upcoming Season 10 PTR Livestream, leaving the community with more questions than answers. In a short Blue Post on the official forums, they cite their desire to revamp the livestream formats that players have become used to over the years ahead of Diablo 4's next expansion. The timing on this could not be worse, as the Diablo 4 team has been steadily teasing the new Season updates and promising large changes to the game, leaving players with an expectation of more communication, not less.

After multiple poorly received seasons in a row, vague teasers of the upcoming Season from developers, the announcement of Developer Livestream revamps, and the only Diablo Roadmap we have coming to its end, even the General Manager of Diablo leaving Blizzard; cancelling the expected PTR developer livestream may leave players even more worried about upcoming changes than normal. Blizzard has clarified that patch notes will be coming out as anticipated, which softens the blow somewhat, but only time will tell if players are satisfied at the new formats that have been promised.

Hi all -

We wanted to provide a quick update on our livestreams going forward.

The tldr; is that we will not be having a livestream for Season 10 PTR as we are focusing on revamping our livestreams going forward starting with the Season 10 launch. There will still be a blog and notes to accompany Season 10 PTR so players can expect news on that soon.

We have been evaluating feedback from players and internally have been wanting to revamp our livestream formats for quite a while especially as we head into next year with the new expansion.

We still want to have that developer interaction moment where players can hear directly from someone on the team during the PTR, so we plan on shifting our Discord Sanctuary Sit Down to occur with our PTR Patch Notes/Blog release. There will be more news on that tomorrow (August 12th) for Season 10.

We have hit the 30th stream milestone recently for Diablo IV, and we couldn’t be more excited to kick-off the revamped livestreams with the launch of Season 10. Please keep the feedback flowing as we head into our new format as we want to make the best possible stream for the community.

Thanks,
Diablo Community Team
